The TikTok Pixel sends website activity from the browser, while Events API can send event data from a server or another controlled system. They can complement each other when browser signals are unavailable, but using both without event matching can duplicate conversions.

Understand what each method contributes
Browser events can reflect activity on the page and help connect ad interactions with site behavior. Server events can provide another route for confirmed actions such as an order or qualified lead. Neither method automatically captures every event, and neither removes the need to respect consent and platform requirements.
Deduplicate paired events
If the same purchase is sent through both the Pixel and Events API, send the supported event identifier consistently so TikTok can recognize the pair. Check the current platform instructions for required identifiers and matching behavior. Do not assume that the order number alone or a matching event name will deduplicate every integration.
- Use one source of truth for the event payload.
- Keep event names and identifiers consistent between browser and server.
- Check timestamps, value, currency, and event source.
- Test one order and verify that only one conversion is reported.
Protect data quality and privacy
Normalize values before sending: use the correct currency, event time, and product or order context. Avoid transmitting unnecessary personal details. Hashing does not make collection automatically appropriate; follow the applicable privacy choices and platform rules for the data you send.
Use a controlled rollout
Start with a small set of events and inspect diagnostics before expanding server delivery. Compare event counts with actual orders or CRM records over a stable period. Monitor matched and deduplicated events after changes to checkout, consent, or event pipelines. Browser and server tracking should increase reliability without inflating the result the business optimizes against.
