TikTok Ads and GA4 can report different conversion totals because they observe and attribute customer journeys differently. A mismatch does not automatically mean the Pixel is broken. First confirm that the same event was collected correctly, then compare attribution rules, date ranges, consent, and the order records behind the reports.
Compare like with like
Check that both tools use the same conversion action, date range, time zone, currency, and reporting scope. TikTok may credit click-through or view-through interactions under its account settings; GA4 uses its own attribution and session rules. Platform-reported conversions should not be added together as if they were mutually exclusive orders.
Separate event collection from attribution
- Inspect one controlled test conversion in both event systems.
- Check whether browser and server events are deduplicated.
- Verify purchase value, currency, and transaction identifier.
- Review consent, redirects, cross-domain checkout, and browser restrictions.
If the same raw event appears once in both tools, the remaining difference may be attribution or reporting logic. If TikTok receives two purchases or GA4 receives none, fix the event implementation before comparing channel credit.
Reconcile a sample of real outcomes
Match a small set of orders or CRM leads to their event records and timestamps. Note which conversions are missing, duplicated, delayed, or attributed to a different source. For ecommerce, compare order value and refunds separately; for lead generation, compare form submissions with qualified CRM records.
Maintain two clear reporting views
Use GA4 to analyze website behavior and channel paths, TikTok Ads to understand platform delivery and attributed results, and the store or CRM for operational outcomes. Document the meaning of each metric and review trends using stable definitions. A clear reconciliation explains why totals differ instead of forcing every system to show the same number.
