A product feed error can make an item ineligible for Shopping ads or reduce the information available for matching. The fastest diagnosis usually starts with the affected item and compares its feed data with the live product page. Error wording and required attributes vary by market and product category, so use the Merchant Center’s current item-level explanation as the source of truth.

Check the item, not just the aggregate
Open a sample affected product and compare its title, price, availability, identifier, image, and landing-page URL. Check whether a recent site or feed change affected a whole category or just a few SKUs. An account-level warning and an individual item error may require different fixes.
Common patterns include a price or stock mismatch, missing or malformed product identifiers, an inaccessible image, a broken destination URL, or a title that omits key product details. Fix the source system where possible so the next feed refresh does not reintroduce the same problem.
Trace how the data reaches the feed
Document the source of each important attribute: ecommerce platform, product information system, spreadsheet, or manual override. Check formatting, currency, country targeting, and scheduled refresh times. A feed can be syntactically valid and still carry stale information if the source has not updated.
When diagnosing a disapproval, change one field at a time and wait for the platform to process the next feed. Keep a copy of the previous feed and note the affected item IDs so recovery is straightforward.
- Confirm the product page is accessible and matches the submitted data.
- Check image URL, dimensions, and redirects.
- Review affected item counts after the next processing cycle.
Prevent repeat errors
Add validation before upload for required fields, valid URLs, currency, availability, and unique IDs. Monitor diagnostics after catalog releases and feed-rule changes. A recurring error is often an upstream data-quality problem, so assigning an owner to the source field is more durable than repeatedly editing individual items by hand.
